About Us

KACV began operation in August, 1988 and reaches over 400,000 residents of the northern Texas Panhandle. Licensed to Amarillo College the station extends the community college philosophy of improving the quality of life for all residents. KACV operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Mission Statement

PBS As a PBS member station, KACV provides viewers with recognizable television series including NOVA, American Experience, Great Performances and Nature. The Station has a longstanding commitment to children airing Sesame Street, Arthur, Clifford, Barney, Martha Speaks and other popular programs. Approximately a third of the Station's programming is targeted to children. PBS kids

KACV has a long history of producing local programs that address timely concerns and celebrate accomplishment. Others have recognized the Station's local production skills; KACV has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Edward R. Murrow and Barbara Jordan citations. Many of KACV's local programs are aired on other public stations throughout the country.

Other Station services include providing Spanish language programming, developing outreach services for preschool literacy and developing partnerships with area non-profits. Over the last year KACV has undertaken a leadership role in helping to community strengthen its civic engagement. Whether broadcasting local political events on television, or making those events available on our website, KACV constantly strives to maintain a high standard for substantive community involvement.

KACV broadcasts digitally in Standard and High Definition.
Channel 2.1 is a digital HD Amarillo affiliate PBS channel.
Channel 2.2 is the digital SD Spanish Language V-Me Channel.
The HD service is also carried on the SuddenLink Amarillo/Canyon cable system.
